Assignment of Benefit

From 1 July 2026, patients who are bulk billed are required to assign their Medicare benefit to their treating practitioner. This is known as an Assignment of Benefit.

When you attend Woodburn Health for a bulk billed consultation, you will be asked to assign your Medicare benefit by providing your consent on our Tyro terminal. This confirms that your Medicare rebate is paid directly to your doctor for the services provided.

For bulk billed telehealth appointments, you will receive a secure text message from HotDoc after your consultation asking you to assign your Medicare benefit. Simply follow the link and provide your consent so your Medicare claim can be processed.

This confirms that your Medicare rebate is paid directly to your treating practitioner for the service provided.

If you have any questions about Assignment of Benefit or our telehealth billing process, please contact our reception team.
